Edge Blackened Meniscus Concave-Convex Infrared Lens With Multi Optional IR Crystal Substrates

Felix Glass black-edge meniscus infrared lens is a single-element concave-convex meniscus optical part specially designed for all types of infrared optical systems. We provide six mainstream infrared crystal substrates for customers to select: Calcium Fluoride (CaF2), Zinc Selenide (ZnSe), Zinc Sulfide (ZnS), Germanium (Ge), Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2), Silicon (Si), covering deep UV, near-infrared, mid-wave infrared and long-wave infrared full spectrum demands.

The lens adopts meniscus concave-convex curvature design, which can realize precise focusing or divergent shaping of infrared beam, effectively reduce spherical aberration compared with flat lens. The full circumference edge is coated with matte black paint, which absorbs scattered stray light reflected from lens edge, eliminates ghost image and improves imaging contrast of infrared thermal cameras and infrared laser equipment. Custom multi-band AR anti-reflection coating can be deposited on two optical surfaces to maximize infrared transmittance.

Material Spectrum Matching Guide

1. CaF2 / MgF2: 0.15–7μm deep UV to mid-infrared, for infrared spectrometers, UV infrared dual-spectrum equipment
2. ZnSe / ZnS: 0.5–22μm visible + full infrared, for multi-spectrum night vision, 10.6μm CO₂ laser
3. Ge: 2–16μm LWIR, opaque to visible light, single-band thermal imaging, industrial temperature measurement
4. Silicon Si: 1–7μm mid-infrared, low thermal expansion, infrared laser ranging sensor optical path

Core Product Advantages

1. Six mainstream infrared crystal substrates optional, cover all infrared band application scenarios, one lens model matches thermal imaging, infrared laser, spectral detection equipment
2. Meniscus concave-convex optical structure, superior aberration correction ability, higher infrared imaging clarity than plano-convex/plano-concave lens
3. Full black edge matte coating thoroughly absorbs edge stray light, eliminates ghost image, greatly improves infrared signal-to-noise ratio
4. Each substrate supports customized wavelength-matched AR coating, maximize infrared light transmittance and reduce energy loss
5. Ultra-precision double-sided polishing, stable focal length consistency in mass production, low thermal deformation under continuous infrared irradiation
6. Fully customizable outline, focal length, coating spectrum and edge black paint thickness to match customer infrared optical system drawings

Typical Application Scenarios

- 8–14μm long-wave infrared thermal imaging cameras & vehicle night vision systems
- 10.6μm CO₂ industrial laser cutting, marking, monitoring optical modules
- Mid-wave infrared industrial high-temperature online temperature measurement equipment
- Laboratory UV-IR Fourier transform infrared spectrometers
- Aerospace infrared remote sensing & infrared star tracking optical assemblies
- Semiconductor infrared detection & infrared laser ranging sensor modules

OEM Manufacturing Capability

We provide full one-stop infrared crystal optical processing including multi-substrate blank cutting, ultra-precision CNC grinding, meniscus double-sided polishing, edge black paint coating, multi-band AR coating deposition, strict spectral transmittance testing and stray light suppression inspection.
Prototype sampling, small-batch trial production and mass manufacturing are supported. Every black-edge meniscus infrared lens is fully tested to meet customer-specified substrate, spectral and dimensional requirements before delivery.

Standard FAQ

1. What is the function of black edge coating on this meniscus infrared lens?
Matte black paint on lens edge absorbs stray light reflected from crystal sidewall, eliminates ghost image and light flare, improves imaging contrast and signal-to-noise ratio of infrared thermal & laser systems.
2. How to choose the suitable substrate among CaF2, ZnSe, ZnS, Ge, MgF2, Si?
Select according to working wavelength: CaF2/MgF2 for UV-MWIR spectrum; ZnSe/ZnS for multi-spectrum & CO₂ laser; Ge for pure 8-14μm thermal imaging; Si for 1-7μm mid-infrared laser ranging.
3. Can I customize focal length and anti-reflection coating for this meniscus lens?
Yes, we support custom positive/negative focal length, lens diameter, and AR coating optimized for target infrared band (3–5μm / 8–14μm /10.6μm CO₂ laser).
4. What infrared equipment is this multi-substrate meniscus lens suitable for?
It matches LWIR thermal imagers, CO₂ laser equipment, industrial infrared temperature measuring instruments, laboratory spectrometers and aerospace infrared detection optical modules.
5. Do you provide sample service for different substrate meniscus infrared lenses?
We offer single substrate sample trial, mixed multi-substrate batch production, all lenses pass full spectral transmittance and stray light inspection before shipment.
