What is the standard production lead time for prototype and mass custom optical components?
A: The standard production lead time for custom optical components at Felix Glass is separated into prototype sample phase and mass production phase, and the exact schedule depends on material selection, machining complexity, coating requirement, tolerance level and total order quantity.
For prototype / single-piece small batch samples: simple tempered display glass panels without special coating normally take 7 to 10 working days. If your samples require AR/AG/AF functional coating, sapphire substrate, ultra-precision tight tolerance or complex non-standard shape, the prototype lead time will extend to 10–15 working days. Lead time starts counting after drawings, specifications are fully confirmed and pre-production sample payment is received. We will inform you in advance if any special raw material needs procurement, which may add extra waiting time.
For mass production bulk OEM orders: common tempered display glass and standard coated optical windows normally take 15–20 working days after sample approval. Complex optical components with multi-layer coating, sapphire parts, ultra-precision machining or large-size solar mirror glass will take 20–30 working days. For extremely large orders with high volume, we will discuss a phased delivery schedule to meet your inventory and assembly plan.
We also offer expedited fast-track production service for urgent projects upon request. Fast orders will be arranged with priority scheduling, but capacity availability needs to be checked before confirmation. It is important to note that lead time excludes international sea/air shipping transit time. After production is finished, we will arrange secure packaging and hand over cargo to your freight forwarder or our recommended logistics provider. Our sales team will update production progress regularly during manufacturing and notify you once goods are ready for shipment.
