Why Sapphire Supports Subsea Optical Access

A sapphire viewport is considered when an exposed optical surface must work in a high-pressure, abrasive, or corrosive environment. Compared with ordinary glass, sapphire provides a harder contact surface and stable material behavior in seawater.
